Unfortunately, uric acid can settle just about anywhere and attack in multiple areas at the same time. It's not necessarily "moving" around, but rather both/all areas had already been building uric acid storage for quite some time and reached the point of an attack(s). The length of an attack can vary per person and dependent upon their level of uric acid storage, the joint damage it has caused, their kidney and liver capabilities for uric acid clearance, and their overall diet and lifestyle before and during an attack. Gout is a progressive condition and can become more and more difficult to manage unless you act and control it daily. Chronic stages can be relentless.
