Excess uric acid can be one of the sources of bladder infection. A build-up of uric acid crystals can result in kidney stones, which can put pressure on the bladder and prevent urine from draining effectively from the bladder. This can potentially lead to an infection, which is the most common cause of cystitis. Urinary tract infections are common when you have kidney stones. If the stones don’t pass, they cause urine to back up in the kidney, ureter, bladder or urethra, causing pain and other symptoms.
Additiionally, long-term use of antibiotics can also lead to more uric acid issues because close to 80% of the immune system resides in the digestive tract. Our guts require a delicate balance of bacteria and while the antibiotics destroy the bad bacteria, they also destroy the GOOD bacteria. The sweeping manner in which antibiotics attack ALL bacteria leave us vulnerable to conditions that stem of the depletion of the vital strains of good bacteria to ward off disease. Repetitive use of antibiotics, without replacement of good bacteria (probiotics), renders us susceptible to chronic inflammation.
