I do wish it was that simple. However......
- Direct food purine-rich food and food that alters the pH in the body causing uric acid production on a cellular level are not one and the same. Highly acidic and imbalanced diets may not directly overload from a purine direct source but can cause cellular degeneration which in turn causes new uric acid production from dying cells.
- Fast weight loss can also overload production as purines are stored in fat. This is another complicated dietary area issue with fad diets and more.
- Foods can also complicate uric acid removal due to the pH factor that they produce in the urine (limiting removal)
- Stress is also very acidic to the body causing cellular death and increased uric acid levels.
- Dehydration, especially on a cellular level is also another factor involved.
